PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

The term Peripheral Nervous System refers to any part of the nervous system that lies outside of the brain & spinal cord. Peripheral Nervous System includes sensory neurons, clusters of neurons called ganglia, and connector neurons that attach to the Central Nervous System and these communicate with each other through electric signalling and neurotransmitters. The Peripheral Nervous System provides the connection between internal or external stimuli and the central nervous system to allow the body to respond to its environment. Much of the Peripheral Nervous System is the ability to regenerate for eg. if a nerve in your finger is severed, it can regrow.
