SOMATIC NERVOUS SYSTEM

The Somatic Nervous System is a part of Peripheral Nervous System & this system is made up of nerves that connect to the skin, sensory organs and all skeletal muscles.

The Somatic Nervous System contains two major types of neurons.

Sensory neuron: which are responsible for carrying information from the names to the Central Nervous System. Motor neurons: which are responsible for carrying information from the brain and spinal cord to muscle fibres throughout the body.

The Autonomic Nervous System regulates body movement through control of skeletal muscles and also relates the organism with the environment through the reception of external stimuli such as through the senses of vision, hearing, taste, smell, voluntary actions like walking & smiling.
